Connecting Insights Across Europe: Synclusive Researchers Gather in Rome to Reflect on Living Lab Progress

On April 15, 2026, the Historical building of Istituto nazionale per l’assicurazione contro gli infortuni sul lavoro (INAIL) in Rome hosted a meeting of Synclusive research partners. The meeting aimed at summarising the results from the living labs insofar, outlining similarities and differences, and refining Realist Evaluation approach.

The research partners shared the status and challenges to quantitative fieldwork and data aggregation and discussed various panel and group comparison methodological approaches for the quantitative analysis.

The need and feasibility of collecting new qualitative data at coalition and individual level were explored as well. The researchers from Bulgaria, Finland, Netherlands and Portugal presented new insights and preliminary observations on the contexts, intervention mechanisms and outcomes in their living labs and took further steps to refine the programme theory. They also explored the analytical potential of Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions and considered its operationalisation within the Realist Evaluation of the living labs.
